Architects of Diversity, Sinar Project and Initiate.my invites you to a roundtable discussion on the recent events surrounding children and digital safety. We would like to invite academics, child rights and digital rights activists, lawyers and educators to discuss this issue from a holistic and long-term perspective.

Many have been alarmed at the reports of alleged violence in schools perpetrated by school children. How should the government, schools and communities respond? Suggestions abound, from bringing back caning in schools to banning social media for children. Police have been deployed to schools tasked with conducting spot checks on children's phones to check for "obscene content".

Are these proposals that serve the best interests of children? Will restricting children from social media or policing them more strictly make a positive difference in their well being and safety? And what are the repercussions and consequences of these proposals that we may not yet see as a society?

The roundtable will be an informal, rapid way to build deeper understanding and potentially consensus around these policy issues.
